Policy changes, debt and purchases to be discussed at Carson City School Board meeting
The next Carson City School District School board meeting will be held Tuesday, July 9 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
First item up for discussion will be the possibility of incurring a “bonded indebtedness” on behalf of the school district in an amount not to exceed $13 million.
The agenda puts it as such:
“Discussion and Possible Action on a Resolution designated as the ‘2019A Refunding Bond Resolution;’ declaring the necessity of incurring a bonded indebtedness on behalf of the Carson City School District for the purpose of refunding certain outstanding bonds of the District; authorizing the issuance of the Carson City School District, Nevada, General Obligation (Limited Tax) Refunding Bonds, Series 2019A, in the aggregate principal amount not to exceed $13,000,000; providing the form of the bonds and for their payment; and providing the effective date.”
The discussion will be led by Andrew Feuling and Ryan Henry.
A change to a “Search and Seizure” policy will be discussed, led by Ann Cyr, along with eliminating workers compensation and industrial compensation and replacing the policy with “Policy 1050, Occupational Injury or Disease.”
Proposed changes to Policy 518, which covers drug and alcohol use/abuse, as well as Policy 200 which covers “Instructional Plans” will be discussed, led by Tasha Fuson. In addition, a proposal to eliminate Regulation 200.1 (Lesson Plans) will be discussed.
Possible action could be taken regarding the approval of 2019 Career and Technical Education materials for high school including Health Science, Sports Medicine, Emergency Medical Technician, Pharmacy Practice, Cybersecurity, and Agricultural Mechanics Technology, as it was previously budgeted.
Superintendent Richard Stokes will be providing an informational update regarding progress made toward the possible purchase of the old Capital Christian Center church facility located at 1600 Snyder Avenue.
