Carson City Supervisors to discuss airport plans, sheriff office technology and more Thursday
The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Wednesday, July 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William St.
— Supervisors will discuss appointing Melanie Bruketta to fill the vacant position of Carson City Justice of the Peace beginning August 4 and ending Jan. 5, 2025 at which point she will be sworn in to the position following her win during the primary elections. Bruketta will serve the remainder of Judge Kirsten Luis’s term after she was appointed by the governor to the First Judicial District Court.
— The Airport Capital Improvement Plan will be discussed along with the submission of two related applications to the FAA for 2024 grants for $500,000 with a necessary city match of $33,333 to fund a runway extension plan study and 25 percent design, along with a related environmental assessment project.
— Supervisors will hear a presentation on the potential to replace the Sheriff’s Office’s computer aided dispatch system, records management system, and jail management system. The city is currently in the request for proposals process seeding a new vendor for the systems, and CCSO will provide an update on the project.
— The Sheriff’s Office will provide their biannual report regarding prisoner deaths within the jail.
— An interlocal Forensic Support Services Agreement will be discussed between the city and Washoe County for a fee not to exceed $179,730 effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Science Division will perform forensic services not including toxicology services.
— The Sheriff’s Office public safety software will be discussed which carries a yearly payment of $263,001.48.
