Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest pair for meth possession
Two people were arrested early Wednesday morning for alleged possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was discovered following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Brandon Jeffries and Shannan Bekowsky, both listed as transients, were taken into custody in the area of West Clearview and Carson Street. At around 1:15 a.m. a deputy made a traffic stop on a white Ford van with Arizona plates traveling on Clearview without any illuminated tail lights.
The female driver identified herself using a California ID card, with the male sitting in the passenger seat. The deputy asked if they had any controlled substances recently. Both told the deputy they had smoked methamphetamine two days ago. The female said there was not any controlled substances in the vehicle and gave consent to search the vehicle.
Prior to the search the woman told the deputy there was a plastic bag in the cup holder of the vehicle. The male passenger said there was a glass meth pipe inside the vehicle near where he was sitting and said it did not belong to him.
The plastic bag in the driver's side cup holder contained methamphetamine, the arrest report states. Also located in the glove box was a pouch that contained a glass meth pipe and a small plastic bag that contained methamphetamine. Both were arrested for suspicion of felony drug possession. The male also faces a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500 each.
