UPDATE 2:55PM: Here's the latest from Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch regarding the Washington Fire near Silver Peak in Alpine County south of Markleeville.
Highway 89 Monitor Pass is closed at Highway 395. Highway 4 is closed. A spot fire on the West side of Highway 4 has required an evacuation from the river up to the north end of Markleeville. Two, Type 1 strike teams of engines have been ordered. Right now, it is a high priority to protect the town of Markleeville.
The entire fire area is under extreme winds. The fire is continuing short uphill runs and single tree/group torching. Five residences are threatened and evacuated, 15 historic cabins threatened. No evacuation center set-up at this time.

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — UPDATE: Sunday, June 21: The Washington Fire near Silver Peak in Alpine County south of Markleeville made significant runs overnight and has now consumed 1,300 acres in heavy timber, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch. The fire has reached Wolf Creek Road.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire warning starting at noon today and lasting through 10 p.m. this evening with winds gusting up to 45 mph in the area and dry conditions prevailing. Breezy conditions already exist this morning throughout the region.
