Carson City deputies arrest man on felony embezzlement warrant after traffic stop
A 49-year-old man was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant for embezzlement issued in January, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.
David James Brewer of Gardnerville was arrested at 7:40 p.m. in the area of Carson Street and Winnie Lane. Bail was set at $15,000 bail.
According to the arrest report, stopped a vehicle after the license plate came back as having the warrant. Brewer was a passenger in the vehicle. Officers confirmed his identity using his Nevada identification card.
The criminal complaint warrant was issued Jan. 8, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court and alleges the crimes of embezzlement between $650 to $3,500, a category C felony.
In other arrests: A 54-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon, and lessor charges of being an ex-felon failing to register and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
The man was arrested at the top of Kings Canyon on Thursday night after officers were patrolling the western end of Kings Canyon Road. A run through dispatch confirmed the man was required to register due to a conviction for a violent felony, the arrest report states. He provided an address where officers later spoke with the occupant who said the man hadn't lived there in months, the arrest report states.
The man agreed to a search of the vehicle where there was a six-inch fixed blade found in the glove box and a marijuana cigarette found on the passenger floorboard. Bail: $3,474.
— A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 12:03 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway on a failure to appear traffic warrant. Bail: $250. A 38-year-old man with her was arrested on misdemeanor charges of violation of pretrial conditions and failure to appear in a Douglas County court. Officers were called to the location on a domestic battery dispute. Bail: $4,128.
— A 46-year-old Carson City woman was booked June 18 into Carson City Jail on a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription.
According to the arrest report, officers performed an intake search of the woman who was remanded from Carson City Justice Court on DUI charges. During the intake search a deputy advised they had found the woman to have a plastic baggie containing six pills, later identified as hydroxyzine, that was found under the woman's skin fold of her abdomen area. Bail: $2,500.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
