Carson City arrests: Suspected DUI driver leads pursuit, rammed by patrol vehicle to force stop
A 66-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of DUI and felony eluding after leading Carson City Sheriff's officers in a brief pursuit Saturday that ended when a sergeant rammed the suspect vehicle to get it to stop.
Allan Cavener was taken into custody at 1:50 p.m. He was booked for alleged felony eluding a police officer and endangering person/property, misdemeanor reckless driving and DUI.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the area of College Parkway and Emerson Drive to assist with a vehicle failing to yield. CCSO officers advised the vehicle ran two red lights at a high rate of speed. A Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant was able to ram the suspect vehicle to a stop at College Parkway and North Ormsby Boulevard. The suspect was detained.
Investigating officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the suspect. The man then asked officers to give him a ride home and to take the handcuffs off, the report states.
The man stated he was returning from the Bunny Ranch and was heading home. While speaking, the man had thick, slurred speech. He was asked how much he had to drink and he stated that he had had a lot and that it "doesn't f***ing matter, let's go." He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests. He was transported to Carson City Jail to conduct the tests. While en-route the man stated "run red lights if you have to, I did" and "I went for a joy ride."
When the testing began he was asked if he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The man answered "I don't know," the report states. He consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .167. He agreed to an evidentiary breath tests with results of .142 and .138. Bail: $5,000.
In other arrests:
— A 60-year-old California woman was arrested Friday for possession of 18.6 grams of methamphetamine, 9 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia (meth pipes), driving with a suspended registration, no proof of insurance and driving without a valid driver's license.
Tina Joy Kellner, listed from Gustine, Calif., was taken into custody at 8:49 a.m. following an investigation. Bail: $10,000.
— A 34-year-old woman, Rose DeLaura Welch, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
— A 36-year-old Carson City woman, Amanda Kae Barham, and a 36-year-old man, Ross Noal Mckenzie, were arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
— A 51-year-old Carson City woman, Shannon Millard, was arrested Friday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and the following alleged misdemeanor offenses: failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device. Bail: $2,500.
— A 24-year-old Reno woman, Kassandra Leanne Masters, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, (suspected methamphetamine). Following a traffic stop. Also arrested was Terry Brown Jr., listed from Reno, for a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Nevada County, Calif. Bail: $10,000.
