Chase Baker was arrested in the area of Fifth Street and Richmond at 1:45 p.m. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the arrest report, deputies had been investigating attempted burglaries in the area of Terrace Court, Crain and Fifth Street in which witnesses identified two male suspects who had been going around nearby homes, attempting to pry open windows. One resident asked what they were up to, with the suspect responding “looking for my dog,” according to the arrest report.

When he was told he was being arrested for burglary, he stated he wasn’t going to talk anymore and wanted a lawyer.

While officers were talking with the 14-year-old’s mother, the juvenile, who was in the back of the patrol car, slipped through handcuffs and set fire to the back of the patrol car causing minor damage. He was transported to juvenile detention.
