Carson High graduates the Class of 2016
Amidst rising temperatures and summertime heat Saturday morning, Carson High School graduated its Class of 2016.
More than 400 graduates listed in the program participated in commencement and the grand procession, which started off the ceremony.
Of the total number of diplomas handed out Saturday, more than 90 of them were Career and Technical Education (CTE) diplomas, Carson High School Principal Tasha Fuson said, the most in school history.
Saturday's commencement speakers included Valedictorian Ethan Lopes, Salutatorians Tristan Martel and Quinn Peterson, and CHS Student Body President Kassidy Cox.
The 2016 Carson High School Graduation was held at the football field, where just days ago graffiti had been cleaned up by combined volunteers from CHS and Douglas High.
Several hundred crowded the grandstands on both sides of the field, while hundreds more stood along the sidelines to watch the CHS graduating Class of 2016 receive their diplomas.
