Man jailed after Carson City sheriff's deputies find copper wire inside stolen vehicle
A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of being in possession of stolen copper wire and burglary tools inside a stolen vehicle, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.
Maxwell Chinevere, a transient, was stopped by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and subsequently arrested after an investigation by the Carson City Sheriff's Office led to the recovery of the vehicle and items stolen from a business in the 3200 block of Deer Run Road.
According to the arrest report, Chinevere was stopped after he was observed in a suspicious location, a private business on Deer Run Road, with property. It was learned by NHP that the vehicle he was in had been reported stolen earlier in the morning.
Upon arrival Carson City sheriff's deputies searched the vehicle and found copper wiring, a large flat screen television, bolt cutters, rubber gloves, a lock saw, and flashlight. The television serial number had not been reported stolen at the time of the recovery, according to the arrest report. Also found were two half empty bottles of booze in the vehicle. He was arrested at 9:56 a.m.
Chinevere was charged with two counts felony possession of stolen property and a stolen vehicle. He also faces misdemeanor charges of receiving money under false pretenses, possession of burglary tools and open container. Bail: $50,603.
In other arrests: A 28-year-old Minden man, John Matthew DelVecchio, was booked Tuesday, into Carson City on a felony charge of failure to appear in court. The warrant for felony drug possession, was issued March 21, 2014 out of Carson City District Court. He is being held without bail pending a bail hearing.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was booked Tuesday on a misdemeanor warrant for criminal contempt. The warrant was issued April 9, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 44-year-old Dayton man was arrested in the 7000 block of Highway 50 East on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
