Traffic backed up due to chase, traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists

However, northbound traffic in the valley is still closed by NHP.

Traffic is backed up as of 2:45 p.m. on I-580 near Washoe Valley following a chase and traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists.

A chase began within Carson City jurisdiction involving a motorcyclist who refused to stop and allegedly tried to run deputies off the road, according to dispatch. NHP was called once they entered NHP’s jurisdiction who appear to have taken over the investigation which ended near Bellevue.

As of 2:52 p.m., detectives from Carson City have also been deployed to the incident.

Traffic is backed up at least three miles according to a deputy on scene.

While investigating the incident in Washoe, it was reported that multiple large groups of about 50-80 heavily armed motorcyclists entered Carson City, heading towards the scene.

UPDATE SUNDAY: A man was arrested Saturday night in the North Valley area of Washoe County by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and a Carson City sheriff's sergeant following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that began in Carson City, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. The Carson City suspect, now in Washoe County custody, was arrested at around 8:30 p.m.

According to Furlong, CCSO scaled back its pursuit once it crossed the county line but followed the suspect vehicle through Washoe Valley. The vehicle crashed and the suspect attempted to flee but was caught by arriving CCSO and NHP officers. The suspect faces charges related to the pursuit, driving a stolen vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm, said Furlong.

An attempted traffic stop on a vehicle identified as stolen out of Sparks turned into a failure to yield and a pursuit by Carson City Sheriff's deputies into Washoe Valley Saturday night.

Carson City emergency crews are on scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred near the roundabout at E. Fifth Street and Fairview Drive.
