Stolen vehicle leads Carson City Sheriff's deputies on pursuit into Washoe Valley
UPDATE SUNDAY: A man was arrested Saturday night in the North Valley area of Washoe County by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and a Carson City sheriff's sergeant following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that began in Carson City, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. The Carson City suspect, now in Washoe County custody, was arrested at around 8:30 p.m.
According to Furlong, CCSO scaled back its pursuit once it crossed the county line but followed the suspect vehicle through Washoe Valley. The vehicle crashed and the suspect attempted to flee but was caught by arriving CCSO and NHP officers. The suspect faces charges related to the pursuit, driving a stolen vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm, said Furlong.

An attempted traffic stop on a vehicle identified as stolen out of Sparks turned into a failure to yield and a pursuit by Carson City Sheriff's deputies into Washoe Valley Saturday night.
A Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop the vehicle initially in the Woodside area of East Carson City at around 5:35 p.m. Saturday evening.
But the suspect vehicle failed to yield to the emergency lights and continued through the neighborhood to Fairview Drive, then N. Lompa Lane and onto College Parkway.
From there, the vehicle turned west onto Sherman Lane and made its way up to Nye Lane, where it continued traveling west.
The vehicle then drove northbound onto the Interstate 580 on-ramp and led police up Lakeview Hill into the Washoe Valley.
At that point, the suspect vehicle sped up and began driving recklessly.
Deputies followed the suspect vehicle to about the Bowers Mansion exit. One patrol vehicle continued to the Galena Creek Bridge over Pleasant Valley, where a four-vehicle accident was reported.
The non-injury accident included the suspect vehicle, and the suspect was reported to have fled on foot.
Nevada Highway Patrol and Washoe County Sheriff's deputies have responded from Reno and the Carson City Sheriff's Office has provided a K-9 unit to help locate the suspect.
