Traffic backed up due to chase, traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists

UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: Dispatch announced the scene is clear.
However, northbound traffic in the valley is still closed by NHP.

Traffic is backed up as of 2:45 p.m. on I-580 near Washoe Valley following a chase and traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists.

A chase began within Carson City jurisdiction involving a motorcyclist who refused to stop and allegedly tried to run deputies off the road, according to dispatch. NHP was called once they entered NHP’s jurisdiction who appear to have taken over the investigation which ended near Bellevue.

As of 2:52 p.m., detectives from Carson City have also been deployed to the incident.

Traffic is backed up at least three miles according to a deputy on scene.

While investigating the incident in Washoe, it was reported that multiple large groups of about 50-80 heavily armed motorcyclists entered Carson City, heading towards the scene.

Students who make up Carson High School's class of 2019 made their senior project presentations public Monday to dozens of Carson City community volunteers and past CHS graduates.

Some of the Carson High School Comprehensive Life Skills staff are seen wearing their shirts that celebrate Autism Awareness Month. April is designated to raise awareness of students and adults alike who are living their lives with autism. The staff will wear their shirts every Tuesday in the month of April.

In February the design plans for the South Carson Complete Streets Project reached 60 percent completion. Current design elements include safe accommodations for travel, one of which is a roundabout at the intersection of Stewart Street and South Carson Street.

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 900 block of Carson Street for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a suspended sentence and battery, a sheriff's deputy said.

Last week I went to visit Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City with my plant buddy Peggy. While a bit early for full inventory, they had some amazing hellebores. They are also called Lenten roses, because they bloom at the beginning of Lent.

Good morning Carson City! Today is Saturday, April 6. While it's going to be a bit cloudy today, we'll have a high of 56 degrees. Sunday and Monday are almost hitting 70, though, with highs at 67 and 68!

On the docket for today is a Celtic Music concert, a Ducks Unlimited Banquet, the April Carson City Wine Walk, farming workshops, kitten parties, and more.

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, through partnering with Arts for Children of Nevada, came up with a mosaic art program that allowed both youth and teens to create, paint and design their own permanent mural.

Carson City was abuzz Thursday evening at the Nevada State Legislature, in which over 100 Nevadan residents gathered to support honeybees, and their ability to be kept by residents.

Senate Bill 389, relating to the ability to keep bees in residential zones in Nevada, which has been hotly debated since it was announced on March 20, was read during a Natural Resources Committee meeting Wednesday.

Residents attended to an extent that legislative staff needed to open an overflow room to provide for those gathered, in which the meeting was televised from down the hall.
