Paving for Pizza provides engineering, public works classroom for Carson City schoolchildren
Mark Twain Elementary School students from Ms. Jen Allen's third grade class received some real-world instruction outside the classroom Tuesday as the Carson City Public Works Streets Division began filling potholes on the street across from the school.
Residents nominated Carson City for a generous $5,000 grant offered through the Domino's Paving for Pizza Campaign. Go here for the story. The creative nationwide initiative not only awarded the city with additional funds to fill potholes, but it also provided a source of supplemental curriculum for discussion and lesson plans within one of Mark Twain's classrooms.
Instruction in the classroom focused on topics such as engineering, government and public works, funding an mathematics, community relations and much more. Domino's Pizza graciously provided slices of pizza for all students and work crews who participated.
