Governor signs on to expand free Nevada State Parks passes for elementary school students
GENOA, Nev. — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval signed a pair of state assembly bills Friday afternoon at Mormon Station State Park in Genoa: AB 385, which provides the issuance of free annual permits to fifth-graders to enter state parks and recreational areas; and AB 490, which increases provisions for maintenance of state park facilities and grounds.
The free annual permits bill was sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Yeager. It is part of an extension to a federal program that allows 4th graders access to parks. In attendance were students from Seeliger Elementary School in Carson City and Douglas County schools: Piñon Hills Elementary and C.C. Meneley Elementary.
