Job Club in Carson City can help local veterans prepare for careers
Unemployed and underemployed military veterans in Northern Nevada are encouraged to take advantage of a new employment program designed to give them the edge in establishing a new career.
Job Club has begun meeting in Carson City every Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Nevada Job Connect office in the Frontier Plaza, 1929 North Carson Street.
The one-hour long weekly Job Club meeting is meant to do more than help individuals find work, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) said. It's about giving them a boost toward a new direction that can change their life circumstances.
Representatives from multiple organizations are present at Job Club to provide information to veterans and answer their questions. These include the Office of the Nevada Attorney General, Veterans Administration, Veterans Business Administration, Job Opportunities In Nevada (JOIN), Professional Institute of Technology and Accounting (PITA), Nevada Job Connect, Friends In Service Helping (FISH), and others.
No appointment is necessary and there is no obligation to attend Job Club, DETR said.
