Jewish Nevada organization to host Holocaust Memorial program Wednesday in Carson City
Jewish Nevada will host the Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day Program in Carson City on Wednesday to honor those individuals who lost their lives during the Holocaust.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, elected officials, and members of Jewish Nevada will light seven candles dedicated to the memory of the more than six million Jews, including 1.5 million children, and one million other victims brutally murdered by the Nazis during World War II.
The 2 p.m. ceremony will be at the Nevada Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain Street in Carson City.
Six candles represent the six million Jews who lost their lives, and the one candle represents the 1 million other people of different faiths and backgrounds who also lose their lives during the Holocaust. The local dignitaries will each be accompanied by a Holocaust survivor now residing in Nevada.
