Non-functioning brake lights results in warrant arrest of Carson City woman
A 59-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday in the area of Telegraph and Fall streets for multiple charges including two warrants and gross misdemeanor possession of prescription medication without a prescription, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle operating without any visible brake lights at around 6:46 p.m. in the area of Washington and Stewart Street. The vehicle came to a stop at two signals without the brake lights activating.
The officer initiated a traffic stop. The woman stated she was aware of the problem and had not had the time to fix it, the arrest report states. The woman told the officer she didn’t have a driver’s license due to a previous DUI.
Dispatch advised the woman’s license had been suspended and that she had two confirmed misdemeanor warrants for her arrests. The warrants were for violation of bail conditions and contempt of court. She was taken into custody.
During the intake process at jail, deputies emptied the woman’s purse and located a diazepam pill, a prescription only drug. She did not have a prescription.
She faces the following charges: Gross misdemeanor possession without a prescription, the two warrants, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and driving with inoperative brakes. Bail: $6,249.
