Mile High Jazz Band presents Carson City outdoor dinner show, live jazz with vocalist Jakki Ford

Mile High Jazz Band Presents An Outdoor Dinner Show, Live Big-band Jazz with Vocalist Jakki Ford Tuesday, May 11, 6:30 p.m., at Living the Good Life in Carson City.

Mile High Jazz Band will present its first live, in-person performance of 2021 on Tuesday, May 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It’s an outdoor dinner show at Living the Good Life Bistro, 1480 N. Carson Street in Carson City. For reservations, text 775-720-5834 before 5:00 p.m. or call 775-841-4663 after 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The program includes favorite big-band jazz tunes and features the vocal stylings of Jakki Ford. Pianist and band leader David Bugli said, "We are so happy to have the opportunity to perform for the public again.” Some tunes on the program that relate to performing again are “The Opener,” “I’m Beginning to See the Light,” and “Day by Day.” Jakki Ford will sing “Come Fly With Me,” “Pick Yourself Up,” “The Nearness of You,” and more.

The May 11 event is the first of a series of three outdoor dinner shows Mile High Jazz Band has scheduled at Living the Good Life. The next two will be on Tuesday, June 8, and Tuesday, July 6. Reservations are recommended.

Mile High Jazz Band is supported in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development provided additional support through its Nevada Pandemic Emergency Technical Support Grant for 2021. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in attempting to identify a person involved in an incident of possible child luring. On Monday at approximately 11:30 a.m. a young female was walking in the area of Koontz and Hillview in south Carson City. While walking in the area, the young female was approached by an unknown male in a copper colored Ford Ranger pickup.

Since the 2014-2015 school year, all high school juniors in the State of Nevada are required to take the ACT. This requirement comes as the Nevada Department of Education tries to identify the level of college readiness that public high schools are providing.
