NHP identifies Carson City man in Friday's fatal pedestrian accident
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 61-year-old Carson City man who was killed in a pedestrian accident Friday morning near the intersection of Long and State streets.
Gordon Skogan, 61, died of injuries after being hit by a food truck that was traveling eastbound on Long Street at around 7:30 a.m., said NHP Trooper Dan Gordon. Skogan entered the travel lane near the marked crosswalk and was struck by the right front of the food truck.
After the impact, the driver of the food truck stopped, contacted law enforcement and then waited for the arrival of emergency responders. Earlier reports indicate the driver may have not seen Skogan due to sun glare.
