Carson City arrests: Woman jailed after stealing roommate’s debit card
A 56-year-old Carson City woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly stole a debit card belonging to her roommate and used it to take out money at a grocery store and two casinos, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The woman was arrested at 1:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sonoma Street for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, on April 17 a victim told a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy that someone had used her debit card at Raley's and two casinos for a total amount of $371.48.
During the initial report, the victim was not sure who could have used her card and thought it had been stolen. On Wednesday, April 26, a deputy reviewed surveillance footage from the grocery store and casinos. Photos were made of the suspect and shown to the victim who identified the woman as her roommate, the arrest report states.
On Thursday, the deputy responded to the residence and took the woman into custody. She admitted to Carson City sheriff’s detectives that she stole the debit card belonging to the victim and used it to take out money from the grocery store and two casinos. Bail: $352.
In other arrests:
A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 3:01 p.m. in the area of East William Street and Oxoby Loop for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputy was on patrol in the area and observed a gold Cadillac without visible registration.
The female driver rolled down the window where a deputy observed an adult male in the passenger seat, two adult males and a male juvenile in the back seat. The officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was visibly nervous when the officer asked for her driver’s license and proof of insurance. The men in the vehicle identified themselves with names, dates of birth and driver’s licenses.
The officer asked the woman to step out of the car. The deputy observed an odor of marijuana on her breath and her pupils were constricted, the report states. She was asked when was the last time she smoked. She said an hour prior and said she had her medical marijuana card. The deputy asked her if she would be willing to complete field sobriety tests to make sure she was OK to drive. She agreed and showed several signs of impairment, the report states.
Due to her admission of smoking marijuana and and her test results the deputy arrested her for driving under the influence of cannabis and unable to operate a motor vehicle safely. At jail she submitted to a blood test. Bail: $1,137.
— A 25-year-old Minden man was arrested early Friday, 1:42 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of alternative sentencing conditions, issued April 26, 2017 out of Reno Municipal Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6:43 p.m. in the area of Sharon and Douglas drives for misdemeanor warrants alleging contempt of court and failure to appear in traffic court. The warrants were issued Sept. 20, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,001.
