Carson City Symphony Association presents an elegant evening of music, wine, and dessert on Sunday, May 1, 6:30 p.m. at a private home, 2662 Danielle Drive in Carson City. The recital features award-winning classical harpist, Jeremy Keppelmann, accompanied by pianist Eric Kao.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for Carson City Symphony Assoc. members, and $5 for youth age 12 and under accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available online at CCSymphony.com, at the Carson City Visitors Bureau (716 N. Carson St.), or by calling the Symphony at 775-883-4154 for reservations.
Keppelmann, age 22, soloed with the Carson City Symphony in 2006 at age 13, and with the Reno Philharmonic the following year. Now in the harp program at Indiana University, Bloomington, he has been winning awards in international competitions since 2005.
David Bugli, Music Director of the Carson City Symphony, said "If you've heard Jeremy before, you know you are in for a musical treat. If you haven't heard him yet, don't miss this chance."
The program will include repertoire of the 10th USA International Harp Competition, to be held June 8-18 on the Campus of Indiana University, Bloomington.
Keppelmann began playing piano at age 5 and harp at 7. He was featured as one of the first Stars of Tomorrow performers at the USA International Harp Competition in 2004.
He finished third in the junior division of the 2005 Lily Laskine international harp competition in Deauxville, France, and was a featured performer at the World Harp Congress Focus on Youth series, in 2005 in Dublin and in 2008 in Amsterdam. In 2008, he appeared on the National Public Radio show From the Top, and in 2009 he was principal harpist in the Nevada Opera’s presentation of Carmen.
Keppelmann studied with Linda Rollo in Saratoga, Calif., Catherine Michel in France, and Elizabeth Hainen at the Curtis Institute of Music. He joined the harp program at Indiana University in 2012.
The recital is funded in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
