Carson City deputies arrest woman for cocaine trafficking, other charges

A 26-year-old woman faces felony cocaine trafficking and other charges after a vehicle stop led to her arrest early Thursday, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Lynsey Irene Fecteau of Gardnerville was arrested at 12:22 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 and I-580. Also arrested was Zachary Ray Yarbrough, 26. Both face charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and open container.

Fecteau also faces the trafficking charge after cocaine was discovered following the arrest. She was read her Miranda warning and told a deputy she was concealing “a bag of cocaine” in her bra, the arrest report states.

At jail a female deputy recovered a plastic bag from the left side of the woman’s bra. The suspected cocaine was weighed with a result of 4.7 grams, according to the arrest report.

The arrest happened after a deputy patrolling the area observed a green GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on William Street that failed to stop behind the stop line at the intersection of Gold Dust Way and William Street.

The Yukon was the subject of a report early that evening regarding a possible DUI driver, the report states.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, with Yarbrough as driver and Fecteau as the passenger. Yarbrough didn’t have a driver’s license in his possession. A deputy ran a wants and warrants check and was advised the man’s license had expired in October 2017. The deputy asked both subjects if there were any drugs in the vehicle. Both denied there were drugs, the arrest report states.

A deputy with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrived on scene and advised Yarbrough has been a subject in ongoing investigations regarding narcotics and had recently been arrested on a warrant in Douglas County for sales of narcotics.

A K-9, Tarzan, conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and made a positive alert for the presence of drugs.

A search of the vehicle yielded multiple items including pills, identified as Alprazolam, and an unknown set of pills in individual bags, multiple individual baggies with white power residue, hypodermic needles, spoons with burn marks, a large square with white powder residue on it, lighters, a Ziplock bag with white powder in it, and a large bag of marijuana weighting more than 1 ounce. There were also open containers of alcohol in the setbacks of the front seats.

The drug-related items were located in both the driver and passenger sides in the front and second row seats in the vehicle. Yarbrough also faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to stop behind a stop line. Bail for Yarbrough, $2,500. Bail for Fecteau, $22,500.
