Downtown Carson City crosswalk repairs begin May 1 following winter weather issues
Beginning May 1, Q&D Construction will make repairs to some of the paver crosswalks in the downtown Carson City area caused by this winter's weather events, according to Carson City Public Works.
During the winter storms, the city had an abnormal amount of water that wasn't anticipated in these crosswalk areas, which washed out a lot of the sand underneath the pavers, or around 1 inch of material.
Carson Street will remain open for commuters during construction.
Q&D Construction will be making the repairs at no cost to the city. The repairs will be covered under their warranty on the project.
Furthermore, additional larger drains will be installed to compensate for any future weather events. Paver repair will begin May 1, 2017, and the anticipated completion is May 12, 2017.
Carson Street from William Street to Fifth Street will remain open during the repairs.
