Carson City arrests: Man jailed for drug possession, resisting after foot chase
A 28-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in the 300 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor obstructing/resisting a police officer. He was taken into custody following a foot chase, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Brian Bodden of Reno was booked at 2:07 a.m. after a sheriff's deputy responded to a report of a fight at a North Carson Street business. Upon arrival, the responding deputy observed several subjects begin to run away from the North Carson Street location to a business in the 100 block of East Telegraph Street, the arrest report states.
After calling for additional deputies to back up the pursuit, the officer chased one subject, Bodden, to the intersection of Fall and Proctor streets, where he stopped. The deputy then forced Bodden to the ground where he was handcuffed after multiple commands from the officer to get on the ground went unheeded, the report said.
Bodden, though, continued to resist arrest and struggled against being handcuffed by the officer. Once Bodden was detained and brought to his feet, the deputy observed a small baggie containing what appeared to be a narcotic at the suspect's feet, the report said. The baggie reportedly fell out of Bodden's hat.
Bodden denied the baggie was his. The substance was tested and returned presumptive positive for amphetamines. Bail: $2,500.
