Carson City arrests: Pair stopped in stolen car, accused of stealing booze from casino storage

Two Carson City men found in a vehicle reported stolen were arrested late Sunday for suspicion of felony burglary and other offenses after allegedly stealing several cases of alcohol from a casino storage area.

Michael Ray Martin, 46, and Allen Parkins, 22, were taken into custody at 10:16 p.m. According to the arrest report, the Carson City Sheriff's Office was informed of a stolen vehicle, a red Dodge Neon, reported earlier Sunday. At around 10 p.m. Sunday night deputies were alerted to a matching vehicle on Carson Street. Deputies located the vehicle, ran the plates, and it was confirmed to be the vehicle reported stolen, the arrest report states.

CCSO deputies conducted a felony stop on the stolen vehicle near a convenience store, in the 1100 block of North Carson Street. Parkins and Martin were detained. During the car stop, suspect Allen had dropped a screw driver on the ground while exiting the vehicle, the arrest report states. Deputies also located a screw driver in Martin's pocket and discovered the car's center console had damage done by a screwdriver.

During a search of the belongings deputies located a loaded syringe with methamphetamine in a backpack, as well as a tourniquet that Martin said later he used to "shoot up" drugs, the arrest report states. Deputies read each suspect their Miranda warning.

Parkins stated he did not wish to speak regarding the vehicle. Suspect Martin agreed to speak and told officers that he did not know the vehicle was stolen, and that Parkins had picked him up earlier that day, the report states.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found several boxes of alcoholic beverages, a Ryobi saw, a jar of marijuana, miscellaneous tools, miscellaneous clothing and household items. Deputies ran the serial number of the saw and learned it had been reported stolen as were a number of unspecified tools, the report states.

The two men were transported to jail. Deputies located two backpacks in the vehicle, where a syringe and safe were located. Parkins gave deputies permission to search the safe. Inside was a bent spoon with burnt residue, a metal cap with burnt residue, a syringe, and green plastic case with a trace amount of heroin wrapped in plastics, the report states.

Also located were several boxes of alcohol in the vehicle. During the investigation, deputies learned that several boxes of alcoholic beverages had been reported stolen from a storage area of a Carson City casino. Deputies went to the area of the theft, met with casino security staff and were able to collect fresh shoe prints. Deputies were able to match the shoe prints to the shoes worn by the suspects, the arrest report states.

Parkins was arrested for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary, possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail amount listed: $37,274.

Martin was arrested for felony suspicion of burglary, possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail amount listed: $27,274.
