Man jailed after allegedly injuring mother when she attempted to call 911 for help
Carson City sheriff's deputies arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly tried to take a cell phone away from his mother who was attempting to call 911 for help after he became violent with her.
The Gardnerville man, Blane Allen Frazier, was arrested to the area of Highway 395 and I-580 freeway at 3:58 p.m. He faces a felony charge of preventing a victim from reporting a crime and lesser charges of domestic battery and open container.
According to the arrest report, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper advised for backup after a traffic stop of a vehicle. When Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, the suspect was standing next to a white van and was attempting to fight with the NHP trooper. The victim was placed inside the back of the patrol vehicle for safety reasons.
A deputy spoke with the mother who said that her son had been drinking and that he becomes abusive when he drinks. She said he began destroying things inside of the vehicle, including a cup holder, the arrest report states. The woman told her son she was going to call 911. She said her son took the phone away from her by force, causing a laceration and deep bruising on her right arm.
The deputy then spoke with the suspect, Frazier, who advised his mother stopped the vehicle and began punching the dashboard and then ripped the cup holder out of the vehicle. The man said his mother was mad because he was smoking her cigarettes, the arrest report states. Officers determined that the information provided by the man was not consistent with the woman's abilities or injuries, the arrest report states.
Officers found the cup holder on the floorboard and numerous beer containers by the passenger seat, which the man had apparently been consuming. He was taken to jail and provided a breath sample with a .100 BAC, the arrest report states. Bail: $13,319.
