State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade to close at noon Friday for slope repair
UPDATE: Kingsbury Grade, the road that links Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe, has been closed indefinitely due to rock and mudslides. Go here for the full story.

State Route 2017 over Kingsbury Grade will be closed for at least six hours beginning at around noon Friday for urgent slope repair, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
The road will be closed from Foothill Road to Daggett summit. Tahoe-bound motorists or those in Tahoe headed to the valley can take Highway 50 over Spooner.
With the recent heavy precipitation, a roadside slope has become destabilized, according to NDOT. For driver safety, NDOT and contractor Q&D Construction will be removing loose trees and earth from the slope and installing a concrete barrier on the roadway shoulder to help reduce rock and mudfall into the road.
Dispatch in Douglas County announced the closure would begin at noon. NDOT said the closure is anticipated to take place beginning in the late morning through late evening, and drivers are advised to visit nvroads.com or dial 511 before traveling Kingsbury Grade for updates.
While both directions of travel are expected to reopen late this evening, continuing weather and precipitation could lead to more lengthy road or lane closures.
