No injuries, one citation after driver rear-ends Carson City school bus
No injuries were reported but a vehicle driver was cited after a rear-end crash Thursday morning involving a Carson City school bus.
The bus driver and all 38 students, ages 5 to 11 years old, were on board and headed to Fritsch Elementary School when the accident happened at around 7:45 a.m. at the corner of Imperial Way and College Parkway.
The driver of the 1999 Toyota Corolla was not injured but was cited for following too close, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Cullen.
School officials say the elementary school students were taken to school shortly after emergency protocols were followed and incident reports were logged.
“This is an opportunity to reiterate with community members to take added caution and care while driving, especially in and around the times schoolchildren are being picked up and dropped off throughout our city,” Carson City Schools Superintendent Richard Stokes said.
