Carson City area road report for the week of April 4-10

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of April 4-10, 2016. Work continues on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street. For this week, traffic on North Carson Street will be one lane in each direction between William and 5th Street on the north bound side of the street.

Sophia, Ann, Washington, Spear, Telegraph and Proctor streets will be closed to the west of Carson Street to Curry Street.

For parking, access Curry via Musser, drive north and park on Curry or surrounding side streets. All other side streets between William and Fifth Street will remain open at this time.

For specific details regarding traffic impacts as a result of the project, go to Carsonproud.com for more information. The website will be updated weekly throughout the duration of the project. Downtown businesses are open during construction.

Meanwhile, the northbound off-ramp from I-580 to eastbound U.S. 50 will temporarily be closed from Sunday, April 3, 8 p.m. to Monday, April 4, at 6 a.m., for crack sealing work. Additionally, a single lane will be closed on the southbound freeway off-ramp to U.S. 50 eastbound.

Periodic lane and ramp closures will take place on southbound I-580 and alternate U.S. 395 in southern Washoe Valley as the Nevada Department of Transportation begins construction of a concrete barrier rail.

Washington Street will be completely closed, due to utility work and repaving, Monday – Sunday, from Carson Street to North Phillips Street. The area will be open to traffic late Sunday. Access accommodations will be made for the LabCorp and adjacent office buildings.

Lane closures are expected at the following locations due to utility work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.:
— Mountain Street between Tahoe Drive and Topaz Drive, Monday, April 4, though Wednesday, April 6.
— Center Drive, south of Topsy Lane will be closed Tuesday, April 5, through Thursday, April 7.
— Arrowhead Drive, between Highway 50 and Goni Road, and on Goni Road north of Arrowhead Drive, Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 8.

Utility work will continue Monday through Friday as indicated below, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with possible flagger controlled traffic at the following locations:
— Mountain Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
— Division Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
— Long Street between Mountain and Division Streets.
— Fleischmann Way between Mountain Street and Division Street.
— Sierra Circle, Hillside Way, Miller Way, Pine View Way, and Lane Circle.

Elsewhere, Caltrans reports the following Sierra roadwork for the week of April 3-9, 2016: Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on seven structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other two will have the roadway below dug down.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Newcastle Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and on-ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday for bridge work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday on the Brace, Gilardi, Horseshoe Bar, King, Penryn and Magra overcrossings for bridge work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Lager Beer Viaduct to .35 miles north of Lager Beer Viaduct: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls for lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. until May 6 for retaining wall construction.

State Route 49 - Southbound (Placer County) from Kemper and New Airport Road to Cottage Drive: Motorists can expect right shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 4 - 8 for utility work.

State Route 49 – (Placer County) from Dry Creek Road to Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect right lane and right shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, April 4 – 7 for maintenance operations.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from North Yuba River Bridge to Yuba Pass summit: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls for alternating lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, April 4-7 for miscellaneous work.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound – (Nevada County) from the Donner Park overcrossing to the Highway 89/I-80 junction: Motorists can expect right lane and right shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 7 for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound – (Nevada County) from Hirschdale Road overcrossing to eastbound off-ramp to Hinton Road: Motorists can expect right lane and right shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 5-6 for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 – Westbound – (Nevada County) from Acid Flat Bridge to westbound Floriston off ramp: Motorists can expect right lane and right shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 4 for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 – Westbound – (Placer County) from Towle overhead to Magra overhead: Motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, April 5-7 for crack seal repair.

State Route 174 – Northbound (Nevada County) from Gold Hill Drive to Ophir Street: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on the local cross streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 4-8 for utility work.

State Route 174 – Northbound (Nevada County) from Clark Street to Auburn Street: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on the local cross streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 4-8 for utility work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work has resumed on an $8 million project from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue in Tahoma, installing curb and gutter and drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater. The highway is also being resurfaced. The project will be completed this spring.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for pavement work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard to Bass Lake Road: Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday for sign work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Greenwood Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Black Oak Mine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Rock Creek Road: Motorists can expect long-term signalized one-way traffic control for emergency repair work.

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Palisades Tahoe have announced they will both be opening early, with lifts starting Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Heavenly and Friday, Nov. 22 at Palisades.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol responded Saturday afternoon to a vehicle crash in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East near the Country Store.
