Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for suspicion of felony drug trafficking

A 39 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 5:41 a.m. in the 2200 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of felony drug trafficking of a schedule one controlled substance, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Linda Cervantes was taken into custody after law enforcement was dispatched to the area on an unwanted subject call. Upon arrival, a Sheriff's deputy located two females, one of which was Cervantes sitting in the driver's seat of her vehicle.

The deputy made contact with both, confirming their identities. After running vehicle registration, Carson City Dispatch advised Cervantes had a recent drug-related arrest, the report said.

When the deputy asked Cervantes if she had any drugs inside her vehicle, she appeared resistant and hesitant answering questions. She failed to make eye contact during questioning, the report said, and would stare away from the deputy when responding, the report states.

At first, Cervanted denied there is anything illegal inside her vehicle. But after talking with the deputy about her previous drug arrests and association with known drug users, she later advised there was meth inside the vehicle.

She handed the deputy a purse from inside a container which she said had meth inside of it. The deputy located multiple hypodermic needles and a clear crystalline substance determined to be methamphetamine, the report said.

Cervantes was then placed in handcuffs and transported to the Carson City Jail, where the methamphetamine was weighed in at 4.7 grams. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
— A 32 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 3:52 a.m. in the 10 block of College Parkway on gross misdemeanor suspicion of destruction of property and misdemeanor first offense domestic battery, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy responded to a repeat domestic battery call. The victim reported that she had been battered by her boyfriend, who had shoved her out of her apartment and locked her out.

The victim also reported the suspect broke two of her cellular telephones — valued together at over $1,000 — and punched holes in the walls of the apartment, the report said.

Two neighbors also bore witness to the dispute, and one witness stated he saw the suspect forcefully shove the victim, the report said.

The suspect, still inside the apartment, would not come to the door, so the officer made entry through an open side patio sliding door and ordered the suspect to come out, the report said.

Not responsive to commands, the suspect was found in a bedroom and appeared to be sleeping. But he showed no signs of grogginess or confusion when the blanket over him was removed.

The suspect refused all commands to get up off the bed after being told he was under arrest. He pulled his arm away from the officer, who had to then drag the suspect to the floor into the next room just to get control of and detain him, the report said.

The suspect continued to be uncooperative after being handcuffed, screaming in the back of the patrol vehicle and hitting his head against the transport cage, the report said.

Once at the jail, the uncooperative suspect had to be carried by two deputies, one on each arm, into a rubber safety cell, where he continued to hit his head against the cell's walls, the report said.

The suspect was booked in the jail on $3,000 bail.

— A 44 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:32 a.m. in the area of North Carson Street and Winnie Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of first offense DUI alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said, as well as multiple traffic offenses.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy observed a suspect vehicle weave within its travel lane, cross over the center line multiple times, and make jerking motions as it returned into its travel lane. The vehicle was also paced at 11 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and stopped in the cross walk at a red light intersection.

At that point, the deputy performed a traffic stop. Contact was made with the suspect driver, who was identified. A strong odor of alcohol was emitting from the vehicle, the report said.

The suspect was observed to have red, watery eyes and slurred speech. There was also a bag of marijuana on the suspect's lap.

He initially denied drinking alcohol, the report said, but later admitted to consuming three beers.

The suspect consented to field sobriety tests that showed signs of impairment, as well as a PBT, which yielded a result of .270 percent BAC. He was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 32 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:55 a.m. in the area of Roop Street and Little Lane on misdemeanor first offense suspicion of DUI alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy observed a suspect vehicle breaking the center line twice and initiated a traffic stop. The deputy contacted the suspect driver, who reported she had just left a bar and was on her way home. Two open containers of alcohol were observed in a backseat cup holder, the deputy reported.

The suspect consented to the FST, which showed signs of impairment, as well as PBT, which yielded a result of .122 percent BAC, the report said. She was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 33 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:14 a.m. in the area of King and Mountain streets on an outstanding misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy ran a vehicle's license plate and registration returned by dispatch confirmed the active warrant. Once the traffic stop was made, the driver was identified and his warrant confirmed.

The suspect was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $500.
