Carson City sheriff's deputies make arrests over weekend for domestic battery, DUI and drugs
A 53-year-old woman was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, DUI and reckless driving, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At 12:31 p.m. sheriff's deputies were dispatched for domestic battery. Dispatch was advised by a reporting party that the suspect was intoxicated and in a physical altercation with a male victim.
The victim, who had a bloody nose and blood around his mouth and mustache, informed officers his wife has an alcohol problem and was intoxicated while attending a birthday party for children. When the husband discovered a bottle of alcohol in the woman's backpack and attempted to take the alcohol bottle out, the man stated his wife punched him in the face, causing his nose to bleed.
Officers located the woman who was walking near the intersection of Mountain Street and West Long. Officers interviewed her where she claimed her husband attempted to take her backpack aggressively. She denied striking the man in any way but stated she was trying to defend herself from him.
The woman agreed to a preliminary breath test with a result of .118. After an investigation, it was determined the woman was the primary aggressor, striking the man in the face to prevent him from taking the bottle of alcohol It was also determined the man did not strike the woman in any way, the report states.
Deputies then spoke with witnesses who stated they saw the woman strike the man in the face before getting into the driver's seat of a vehicle and attempted to drive away. The witness stated they saw the rear hatch to the vehicle was open when the suspect started the car. The witness said they attempted to stop the woman from driving, but she accelerated and the vehicle performed a u-turn and sped down the street.
Another witness captured most of the situation on his phone and stated they observed the woman slap the man in the face as the man attempted to take the backpack in his possession. The witness also stated they saw the woman climb into the driver seat of the vehicle and speed off after making a u-turn. The witness showed the deputies the video.
The suspect was taken into custody for suspicion of domestic battery, DUI and reckless driving. At 2:09 p.m., she provided two evidentiary breath samples of .56 and .53, according to the booking report. Bail: $3,137.
