NHP: Silver Springs woman dies in head-on crash south of Fernley
A 19-year-old Silver Springs woman died in a head-on crash Sunday on Highway 50A south of Fernley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Three others were also injured.
NHP confirms Isis Aline Fetty died after a Saturn Sedan crossed over the center line and struck the Mercedes she was driving. The accident happened around noon Sunday, near Lyon County mile marker 11 approximately 1 mile south of the Fernley High School.
The crash investigation details learned so far indicate a black 2008 Saturn sedan driven by lone occupant Megan Constance Amirr , 27, of Fernley was traveling southbound on US50A when for unknown reasons at this time Miss Amirr allowed the Saturn sedan to cross over the center line where it struck a white 1988 Mercedes-Benz sedan traveling northbound in a head-on collision, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson. Also in the Mercedes was Allyson Marie F. Tansler and a 12 year old female both residents of Silver Springs.
Fetty was pronounced deceased at the scene. Miss Tansler was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by Central Lyon County ambulance with serious non-threatening injuries. The minor female was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. All occupants of the Mercedes were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Saturn was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was taken to Renown with non-life threatening injuries by the Central Lyon County ambulance.
US50A was blocked in both directions for several hours while the NHP investigated and diagramed the crash scene. This area of US50A one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 65 mph. The possibility of a controlled substance is being investigated as a factor in the cause of this accident. Charges are pending.
