Carson City arrests: Naked man accused of beating wife, chasing her in parking lot
A 35-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for alleged felony assault and domestic battery with a deadly weapon, indecent exposure in front of children and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Skyler Shane Smith was taken into custody at 2:36 p.m. following an investigation. He was also booked for gross misdemeanor destruction of property, resisting an officer, and domestic battery second offense.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 1:35 p.m. to an apartment complex at 20 College Parkway for a male running around the parking lot naked.
Through the investigation CCSO deputies learned the suspect punched his wife in the face multiple times during an argument. He also grabbed a wood chunk from a dresser he had broken and chased her with it, then took the bottom of a beer bottle and pushed it against her cheek enough that it caused the back of her head to be pushed into a wall, the arrest report states. The suspect, Skyler Smith, who was naked, then ran out of the apartment, chasing his wife.
Officers took photos of the woman's injuries. Deputies spoke with three children who were inside the apartment during the fight. The children were inside their room, the report states. One child looked out and saw the naked man punching the victim. The children would later escape with the victim and were not harmed.
The suspect's father had been advised to come and get the children out of the apartment and away from the suspect. He advised that when he got to the apartment, he saw the female victim being chased by the naked suspect in the parking lot.
Other witnesses advised they saw the victim crying and trying to get away from the suspect with the three kids, one advising they were walking their dog and saw the naked suspect running after the woman in front of everyone outside the apartment complex.
Two witnesses, a juvenile female and juvenile male, advised they heard yelling outside. They stated they then watched the man running outside chasing the woman. Both juveniles advised the man was completely naked.
Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, who locked himself into an apartment. He would not come to the door. Keys were obtained from apartment management to unlock the door.
Deputies approached the door and gave commands for the man to come to the door. He did not. A deputy attempted to unlock the door but none of the keys worked. The door was then breached where a drone was deployed and cleared the apartment.
The suspect was locating hiding in a closet and was arrested. As he was being escorted to a patrol vehicle, the man head butted the patrol vehicle causing damage. Bail: $30,000.
