Carson City recent arrests: Driver jailed for suspicion of second DUI
A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI second offense, driving without a valid license and failure to obey a traffic control device, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed the vehicle traveling and drifting between solid street lines and through a traffic control device. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on Como Street, which the vehicle continued, failing to stop, and then eventually stopping in the driveway of a residence in the 1500 block of Como. The driver exited on his own accord and stumbled as he was attempting to access an unknown item in his back pocket.
The officer approached the driver and observed bloodshot eyes and the man having difficulty maintaining balance, with his body wobbling side to side, the arrest report states. The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The driver stated he had a suspended license. He identified himself with California identification. The man consented to standardized field sobriety tests showing signs of impairment. He gave a preliminary breath test of .154 and was arrested.
The man took two evidentiary breath samples with results of .136 and .135, the arrest report states. A criminal history was performed that showed the man had two prior DUIs within the last seven years, however, only one had a disposition file. Carson City dispatch confirmed the man’s California driver’s license was suspended. Bail: $2,916.
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds for a misdemeanor court order violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. According to the arrest report, the woman was inside a casino consuming alcohol. The woman was on Alternative Sentencing, with a condition not to consume any alcoholic beverages.
The arresting deputy smelled a strong odor of alcohol on the woman’s breath. She was asked to provide a preliminary breath test which she refused. Located inside the woman’s backpack was a bottle of Black Velvet whiskey. Bail: $3,000.
