Girl Scout goes for gold in helping deployed soldiers
The Carson City Mall hosted a booth Saturday put on by Delaney Mott that aims to help deployed soldiers feel they are not forgotten.
What once began as casual letter writing and card sending by mother and daughter to delayed troops has since grown to a community event with the help of Delaney.
She took the reins from home to school by developing a club with the same name, Remember Everyone Deployed, or R.E.D., and after organizing her school she felt the desire to go bigger and get the community involved. Half way through the 2 hour event community members had helped pack 13 boxes goodies for deployed soldiers, and putting Delaney Mott one step closer to her Gold Award.
