Victim found dead in Silver Springs structure fire
One person died in a Silver Springs structure fire that happened Monday morning. It is the second fatality involving fires Monday morning, with an elderly man who died in an early morning Carson City apartment fire.
According to Jeff Page, Lyon County manager, Central Lyon County Fire was called at 8:53 a.m. to the 1700 block of 10th Street in Silver Springs with a report of a person still inside the home.
The engine and battalion chief arrived on scene at 9:08 a.m. to find the residence charged with smoke. Upon entry the crew located a victim and extinguished a room and contents fire. The victim was confirmed dead on arrival.
The fire is currently under investigation, said Page. No other injuries were reported.
Page said Central Lyon received mutual aid assistance from the following agencies for response to both the fire and additional 911 calls in the District: Mason Valley Fire, North Lyon Fire, Storey County Fire and Carson City Fire.
In Carson City, firefighters were called at 12:12 a.m. to the 500 block of South Roop Street and found an elderly man and his cat deceased. The incident is under investigation.
