Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for failing to register as a sex offender
A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 2:11 a.m. in the 400 block of Saliman Road on a misdemeanor charge, failure to register as a sex offender, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the apartment complex on Saliman after a reporting witness said a man who is a sex offender was living in an apartment and had not registered.
Upon arrival officers made contact with the reporting witness outside a residence who said the man had been staying at the apartment complex for more than a week and had not updated his registered address.
Officers met with suspect who stated he has recently been staying at the apartment while trying to find work. He stated he has not updated his registered address because it had not been 72 hours since he has relocated to Carson City.
A records check showed the man was currently registered in Schurz, Nev. The reporting witness completed a statement saying the man had been staying at the residence for more than a week. The suspect was taken into custody on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender. Bail: $242.
— A 62-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 1:46 a.m. in the area of 1900 Carson Street on a warrant, contempt of court, issued March 19, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 49-year-old Reno man was arrested Tuesday, March 3, 7:47 p.m. on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license and failing to stop at a traffic signal.
According to the arrest report, an officer was traveling north on Carson Street near the intersection of Winnie Lane. The officer was behind a Chevy truck that failed to slow or stop for a red light. The driver continued through the light and nearly hit two other vehicles, according to the arrest report.
The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2400 block of North Carson Street and before the truck stopped as it was slowing down, the driver ran over a curb with its right front tire, the arrest report states.
The suspect presented the officer an identification card and attempted to get out of the truck and nearly fell to the ground, the report states. He handed the officer the keys to the truck. He was unable to perform any field sobriety tests and offered a breath sample of .099. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, not having a valid license and running the stop light. He was taken to jail where he provided two breath samples, .098 and .094, respectively. Bail: $1,416.
— A 74-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant for a traffic citation, issued Jan. 13, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $740.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
