Forest Service announces OHV grant opportunities

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is developing applications for Off Highway Vehicle Cooperative Funds for the upcoming 2012/2013 grant cycle. We are developing three preliminary applications to the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division in Sacramento.
The Law Enforcement Grant includes a strong emphasis on law enforcement and will fund Law Enforcement Officers and Forest Protection Officers, while the Ground Operations Grant will focus on operating and maintaining OHV and snowmobile areas across the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts. The forest is also applying for an education and safety grant. It will focus on the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area avalanche safety and education.
The grant applications will be posted on the OHMVR website after Monday, March 3, 2014. To review the grant applications submitted, click on this link or paste it into your browser: http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov. Instructions for submitting comments are posted on the website.
The 30-day public review and comment period for the 2013/2014 Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program begins March 4, 2014 and ends April 1, 2014. This period provides an opportunity for the public to review the preliminary applications submitted to the OHMVR Division for consideration during the current grant cycle.
