Carson City man with felony warrants faces false ID charge after giving deputies wrong name
A 42-year-old man booked into custody faces felony charges of using false identification to avoid prosecution and a fugitive from justice warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Dylan Matthew Pettigrew was booked into jail Monday afternoon via the Nevada Highway Patrol. It was learned after booking that the man may have been using a false name. At approximately 3:25 p.m. a jail deputy observed the inmate inside of a cell sleeping.
The deputy called him by his real first name and the man immediately woke up and looked at the officer. The deputy asked the man if Dylan was his first name and he responded it was, according to the arrest report.
Pettigrew said he used the name of a family member because he “panicked” for having warrants. The deputy asked for the man’s correct information and learned through a criminal background check that he has two active felony warrants, one in El Dorado County, Calif., and the other only extraditable east of the Mississippi River, according to the arrest report.
He is being held on $10,000 bond for suspicion of using false identification and he is on a no-bail hold awaiting extradition for the fugitive from justice warrant out of South Lake Tahoe Superior Court.

— A 34-year-old Reno woman was arrested Saturday, 8:19 a.m. at a casino parking lot for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to locate a reckless driver going eastbound on Highway 50. A bank security officer contacted dispatch and stated he witnessed a female with blonde hair and white jacket driving recklessly and erratically, the arrest report states.
A deputy located the vehicle, parked in a stall, the engine running with a female asleep in the driver’s seat. She matched the description given earlier. The officer attempted to wake the woman several times by knocking on the window.
The woman finally responded and woke up. She had thick speech and was unable to provide clear responses to the officer’s questions. The officer asked for the woman’s driver’s license. She fumbled and provided the officer an identification card. The deputy asked the woman for her registration and insurance. The woman replied “you have my insurance,” pointing to the identification card she handed the deputy.
The deputy conducted standardized field sobriety tests in which the woman demonstrated impairment throughout the test battery. She provided a preliminary breath test of .146 and was placed under arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she voluntarily consented to evidentiary breath tests, with results of .124 and .121. Dispatch advised the woman’s license was suspended for failure to appear in Washoe County. Bail: $1,774.
