Carson City Symphony presents evening of music, dessert Feb. 23
The Carson City Symphony Association presents “Music by Cellist-Composers,” an elegant evening of music, conversation, wine, and dessert on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
A house recital, held at 2662 Danielle Drive in Carson City, will introduce or reacquaint music lovers in our area with critically-acclaimed cellist Stephen Framil, who has appeared as concert soloist, chamber musician, and conductor the world over. He will be accompanied by pianist Katie Lauder.
Tickets are $25 and are available online at CCSymphony.com; at the Nevada Day office in the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority located 716 N. Carson Street; or by calling the Symphony at 775-883-4154 for reservations.
Framil will play a varied program of music by composers who were also cellists: Gaspar Cassadó, Zoltán Kodaly, Mark Summer, and David Popper.
While in Carson City, Dr. Framil also will lead a master class for student cellists on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Carson High School.
Framil will then play Cello Concerto No. 2 by Victor Herbert, who was also a cellist, with the Carson City Symphony on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Carson City Community Center.
