Carson City Sheriff's SET arrest 3 for suspected drug, firearm crimes

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrested three in the area of Bryan Circle and Lompa Lane for suspected drug, firearm and other offenses, a booking report states.

Gigi Marie Demera-Jackson, 23, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to display license plate.

Michael Craig Henson Jr., 25, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Both Jackson and Henson are listed as being from Carson City.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor harassment warrant out of Storey County, issued Jan. 8 2020, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the report, Special Enforcement Team deputies were patrolling the area of Nye Lane and Lompa Lane when they witnessed a vehicle traveling westbound on Nye Lane from the Airport Road area.

Deputies recognized Henson in the passenger seat, who was being investigated for methamphetamine use and sales. The vehicle’s rear license plate was hanging on by one bolt and appeared it may fall off. The vehicle did not stop at the stop sign while turning northbound onto Lompa Lane, the report states.

Deputies stopped the vehicle at Lompa and Bryan and spoke with the driver, later identified as Demera-Jackson. Deputies noted that the rear right passenger, the 41-year-old, is a known methamphetamine user and rumored to be involved in sales.

Henson was wearing soft body armor and a camouflage shirt. Deputies were concerned because body armor is synonymous with possession of firearms, the report states, and the 41-year-old is an ex-felon. Deputies removed Henson from the vehicle and detained him by placing him in handcuffs. He exhibited rapid speech, was wearing sunglasses during dusk hours, and appeared agitated.

Dispatch advised the 41-year-old had a warrant issued for his arrest out of Storey County, and had been convicted of domestic battery in 2015 which prohibits him from possession of firearms, the report states.

K-9 Deputy Ivo was dispatched to the scene who conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert at the driver’s side door of the vehicle.

There were about 50 small baggies under the 41-year-old’s seat in a black case, commonly used in drug sales. In the center console between Demera-Jackson and Henson, they located a baggie with a small amount of methamphetamine inside.

Deputies also located two Gabapentin capsules behind the driver’s seat, left of where the 41-year-old was seated.

Deputies also located two spent 9mm casings in the passenger seat door frame where Henson was seated. Based on him wearing body armor and the casings, deputies suspected he may be in possession of a firearm.

Deputies spoke with Demera-Jackson and Henson, who live together, and read them their miranda rights. Demera-Jackson told deputies she is an “avid user of marijuana” but recently found out she was pregnant and stopped using drugs. She said Henson uses marijuana every day but does not use other drugs, the report states.

Deputies asked her about the firearms, and she said Henson owns a 9mm handgun. She denied possession of any other drugs in the vehicle.

Henson stated he used methamphetamine last in September after being released form jail, but that he uses marijuana regularly. He also admitted to owning a 9mm handgun which was located in his home. He also denied ownership of any drugs in the vehicle.

The 41-year-old also denied ownership of any drugs in the vehicle.

After receiving a warrant for the residence deputes located a 9mm semi-automatic handgun from Henson’s bedroom. There was additional drug paraphernalia and evidence of child abuse discovered during the search warrant, which will be addressed further in an additional investigation, according to the report.

Bail for Demera-Jackson: $6,219; Bail for Michael Craig Henson Jr.: $26,000; Bail for the 41-year-old: $4,500; $1,000 cash only.

In other arrests:
— A 60-year-old transient man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a report of an unwanted subject.

According to the report, Blake Christian Franzman was arrested in the area of Long Street Friday afternoon for drug charges after someone reported an unwanted subject sitting in a van of a business parking lot.

Deputies spoke with the man, later identified as Franzman, and asked for his identification, which he provided. While speaking with Franzman, deputies noted he appeared nervous and continued to attempt to re-enter the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

At one point deputies had to tell Franzman to step away from the vehicle. He was patted down for weapons and deputies noted a large bulge in the front left pocket of his winter coat. Deputies asked what the bulge was, and the man said medications.

When deputies asked if they could reach in and retrieve the medications, Franzman stated he did not see a reason why they would need to. He reached inside the jacket and pulled out what he called a marijuana e cigarette from his left breast pocket and stated it was for “dab” (butane marijuana oil) and not for methamphetamine.

Deputies asked why he had mentioned methamphetamine and he did not answer. They asked if he had ever used methamphetamine, and he said yes. Deputies asked if he had any methamphetamine on his person, and he looked away and said no. Deputies asked if he was sure, and he said yes. Deputies asked him to remove the bulge from his pocket.

He retrieved a marijuana dispensary bag, which contained a smaller clear bag. Franzman told deputies the smaller bag contained hyperemic devices for his diabetes, according to the report. Deputies asked if they could look at the smaller clear bag, and Franzman handed them the bag.

Inside the small bag deputies found methamphetamine.

In the vehicle deputies located an additional dispensary bag which contained multiple items of drug paraphernalia, including a methamphetamine pipe.

Deputies located several more paraphernalia items, including a hypodermic device, and additional methamphetamine crystals. Bail: $3,637.
