Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Three arrested in separate Walmart shoplifting incidents
A 20-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street on suspicion of felony shoplifting, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Jesus Nunez was taken into custody at 2:08 p.m. on the charge after he allegedly attempted to steal two bottles of liquor and other items valued at $72.90 from the store. He informed deputies that he had been convicted of two prior petit larcenies since 2014. He was charged with felony shoplifting-burglary. Bail: $2,500.
Deputies responded to Walmart later Wednesday on two separate shoplifting incidents. A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 11:56 p.m. on suspicion of petit larceny. The man allegedly attempted to steal a wallet, valued at $9, by placing it in his pocket and exiting the store. Bail: $352.
A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 7:08 p.m. on misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, the man attempted to steal a DVD, valued at $12.96. Bail: $352.
In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Daniel Bridges, was booked into jail Wednesday, 3:34 p.m. on a felony charge of possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The event stems from and Feb. 1 incident in which heroin, a hypodermic device and packaging from tar heroin was found at a Baker Street residence. Bail: $3,637.
— A 20-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 1:01 a.m. in the Goni Pit area on a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of Oxycodone without a prescription, DUI, and possession of marijuana. According to the arrest report, a deputy was patrolling the area of Goni Pit and observed a vehicle without headlights parked near the entrance of the pit.
When the deputy drove up near the vehicle the drive began to drive southbound on Goni without headlights. The deputy observed objects being thrown out of the window and made a vehicle stop. The deputy spoke with the driver and explained his reason for the stop. He observed two beer cans on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle. Both cans were opened. The officer asked the driver how much she had to drink. She stated one beer. A deputy made contact with the second woman in the vehicle, age 22, who admitted to drinking. She was subsequently arrested for violation of alternative sentencing conditions in which there was a “no drinking” clause.
Meanwhile the driver agreed to field sobriety tests and did not satisfy the requirements of the tests, according to the arrest report. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. During an inventory of the vehicle officers found a pill bottle with 9 Oxycodone pills. In the woman’s purse was a pill bottle with marijuana. At jail she submitted to two breath samples, with results of .079. Bail: $4,374.
— A 31-year-old Reno man was arrested Wednesday, 11:03 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of Storey County on Jan. 20, 2016. Bail: $1,120.
— A 23-year-old Reno man was arrested Wednesday, 2 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued Jan. 14, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,500.
— A 19-year-old Reno man was arrested Wednesday, 2 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued May 18, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
