Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Couple booked after domestic altercation

A 27 year-old Dayton woman and 30 year-old Woodland, CA, man were arrested Friday afternoon at 4:19 p.m. in the area of Retail Court and East College Parkway on separate misdemeanor charges following an argument that had turned physical, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, Sheriff's deputies responded to the area to assist Firefighter-Paramedics with a physical domestic battery that had occurred there between male and female subjects.

The subjects were separated. The female was interviewed and stated she and her boyfriend began arguing over family issues when she became extremely upset, striking the male in the face with a closed fist, the report said.

The female subject reported that the male did not strike or place his hands on her. However, a red handprint appeared to be around her neck, including four marks on the left side of her neck and one marking on the right side, the report said.

When asked where those marks had come from, the female claimed she was unaware of them.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch on the female confirmed an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant for violating the terms of her bail conditions, the report said.

She was detained in handcuffs at that point and taken into custody.

Law enforcement also interviewed the male subject, who acknowledged the verbal argument, but denied that it had become physical. He stated no one had hit the other, the report said.

However, the male displayed a cut over his right eye, which he claimed resulted from the female hitting the brakes on the vehicle and causing him to hit his head on the dash board, the report said.

The male also denied the red marks on the female's neck were from him. But the female subject later changed her story and stated that the male had choked her.

He was determined by deputies to be the primary aggressor in the altercation and was arrested for misdemeanor first-offense domestic battery.

Both were taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail for the woman: $3,000; Bail for the man: $3,137.

In other arrests:

— A 46 year-old transient female was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:06 a.m. in the 2200 block of E. William Street on multiple offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including felony drug possession, firearm possession by a prohibited person, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a grey Chevrolet SUV was stopped for suspended registration.

A Sheriff's deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Alta Elizabeth Burdett, who appeared very nervous during the stop.

When asked if there was anything in the vehicle that the officer needed to be concerned about, Burdett said there was a .44 magnum firearm in her bag on the center console of the vehicle as well as machetes inside the console, the report said.

The deputy observed the woman to exhibit frequent exaggerated movements, indicative of signs and symptoms of being under the influence of stimulants, the report said.

Burdett was asked to exit the vehicle and stand away from the vehicle with the weapons inside of it.

A records check on Burdett was made through Carson City Dispatch, which showed her to have previously been in possession of a stolen .44 magnum firearm.

A K-9 unit was also called in to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle, and the K-9 officer was positively alerted by the presence of narcotics, the report said.

The subsequent vehicle search recovered a firearm, small baggie of methamphetamines and a meth pipe, the report said.

Under Miranda, Burdett admitted to being addicted to meth and marijuana. She was handcuffed and taken into custody.

A criminal history showed Burdett with a lengthy arrest history for drug possession and prohibited person possessing a firearm, the report said.

She was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked without incident. Bail: $20,000.

— A Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 9:41 p.m. in the 3100 block of U.S. Highway 50 East on felony use of another person's identification to avoid prosecution and also a felony bench warrant issued by the El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe, CA, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Jonathan Michael Butterfield was taken into custody after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped.

When Sheriff's deputies made contact with him and requested his identification, he gave them another name and birthdate that turned out to be an actual person with a Class A driver's license, the arrest report said.

When asked if he had a driver's license, Butterfield said he did, but not on him. The deputy then asked what type of driver's license he had, and Butterfield stated it was Class C, the report said.

A picture of the identified driver's license found by Carson City Dispatch was sent to the deputy, who noted the photo on the ID was not of the suspect.

The deputy asked Butterfield for his real name, informing that suspect that he was lying.

Butterfield then gave his real name and birth date, explaining that the identity he gave before was a family member, the report said.

Carson City Dispatch used the updated identification for a new records check that confirmed a felony warrant for embezzlement out of El Dorado County, CA.

Butterfield was handcuffed at that time and taken into custody. He was transported without incident to the Carson City Jail, where he was booked. Bail: $10,000.

— An 18 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:42 a.m. in the 2500 block of N. Carson Street for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded to a report of a fight in progress.

Contact was made with three subjects upon law enforcement arrival.

One male subject stated he was jumped by two other subjects while walking home. He reported that the subjects kicked and punched him. He denied knowing the two other subjects and stated he did not fight back, the report said.

The 18 year-old subject smelled of alcohol, the report said, and a preliminary breath test (PBT) he consented to showed breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .145 percent.

Carson City Dispatch informed deputies on scene that 18 year-old male was active with the Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) for minor consumption of alcohol, the report said.

DAS informed dispatch that it wanted the suspect arrested for violating bail conditions. He was then handcuffed and taken into custody.

Deputies first took the suspect to the hospital for medical clearance before transporting him to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

Another one of the subjects involved in the altercation was 31 year-old Joshua Earl Hooten of Carson City, who was also arrested on a pair of outstanding felony bench warrants.

Prior to his arrest, he identified himself with deputies and told them that he and the third subject had been drinking alcohol when the 18 year-old suspect approached them in an aggressive manner, squaring up on them.

Hooten and the 18 year-old began to fight, but the altercation was broken up by the third subject, the report said.

Carson City Dispatch performed a records check on Hooten, who had two confirmed felony warrants: One issued by the Second Judicial District Court in Reno for revoking pre-trial release, and a second issued by the Superior Court of Sacramento, CA, for a probation violation.

Hooten was handcuffed and placed in custody. He was transported to the Carson City Jail, where he was booked without incident. Bail: No bail out of Sacramento; $10,000 bail out of Reno.

All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The policy of Carson Now is to name anyone who is arrested for a felony offense.
