One dead, one critical in single-vehicle crash in Dayton
The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash very early Friday morning that resulted in one person dead and another critically injured.
NHP reported that the crash occurred near the traffic light intersection of Fortune Drive and U.S. Highway 50. The single vehicle had hit a pole near the intersection, causing one confirmed fatality.
The another occupant of the vehicle was transported by Care Flight in critical condition. That person's current condition is unknown at this hour.
The crash shut down both east and westbound lanes of Highway 50, NHP said.
As of about 6 a.m. Friday morning, the westbound right-hand travel lane remained closed to traffic. Westbound was reduced to one lane at that intersection.
