Carson City crime log: Man booked for assault with deadly weapon warrant
A 30-year-old Carson City man was booked Wednesday into Carson City jail for a felony assault with a deadly warrant and three lesser warrants, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Martin Adrian Mendoza was booked at 10:15 a.m. after being transferred from El Dorado County Jail in California.
The assault with a deadly weapon warrant charge was issued July 31, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. The misdemeanor warrant charges of two counts contempt of court and domestic battery were also issued out of Carson City. Bail: $35,300.
In other bookings:
— A 27-year-old Mound House man was arrested Wednesday, 11:54 p.m. in the area of Curry and Park streets for gross misdemeanor battery on a protected person and the following misdemeanors: Resisting an officer resisting an officer with violence, impeding traffic and being a drunken pedestrian.
According to the arrest report, an officer observed the suspect walking down the middle of the street southbound on Curry. The officer told the man to get out of the middle of the street. The man refused to acknowledge the order.
The officer exited his patrol vehicle and observed the man putting his hands in his jacket pocket. The officer asked him to show his hands.
The man did not follow commands until the point where the officer drew his weapon and ordered him to show his hands. While attempting to do a pat search of the man, he began to actively resist, stomping on the officer’s foot and attempting to strike the officer with his fist, the report states. He was taken to the ground and handcuffed. Bail: $4,193.
— A 26-year-old Washoe Valley man, Nicholas Applonie, was arrested Wednesday in the area of College Parkway and Research for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and the following misdemeanors: Driving on a suspended driver’s license, obedience to traffic control device and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, the vehicle the suspect was driving was seen leaving Walmart after a reported larceny involving a female associated to the vehicle. A deputy located the vehicle and observed it failing to stop at a stop sign as it approached College Parkway.
The deputy did a traffic stop in which the male driver got out of the car and attempted to walk away. The female suspect in the larceny was not in the vehicle. The man was ordered back into he vehicle. When he began reaching for something in the passenger seat, he was advised not to and detained for safety purposes.
He advised he knew the woman but denied involvement in the Walmart larceny. During the investigation, deputies located methamphetamine, approximately 2 grams, on the front passenger seat and drug paraphernalia — a glass pipe and scale — in a black bag on the floor of the passenger seat. The man told deputies the bag belonged to him, the report states. Bail: $4,361.
