Carson City Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in reporting suspicious activity. Within the the past nine days, three residential burglaries were reported to have happened during the middle of the day.
The first one occurred on Jan. 17 in the area of Long Street and Mountain Street. Surveillance footage in the area showed an older model Dodge Power Wagon driving slowly in the neighborhood. It is unknown if the vehicle is related to the burglary, however detectives would like to talk with the owner of the vehicle.
The second burglary was reported on Nevada Street occurring on Sunday, Jan. 22. Neighbors noticed a suspicious vehicle described as a dirty SUV seen at the location during the time frame of the break in and did not report it to law enforcement.
The third burglary occurred on Monday on Crain Street. During follow up investigation detectives discovered from several neighbors they had seen the suspects and their vehicle during the burglary, however had not reported the suspicious activity. The witnesses provided detectives a description of two males driving a tan or light beige color vehicle, possibly a Toyota, Honda or Buick type mid-size vehicle.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong notes that among these burglaries, there were several witnesses but none of them chose to call the sheriff's office directly. The witnesses informed others who called the sheriff's office.
"If you don't want to call 911 you can call 887-COPS and we will respond as rapidly as we can," said Furlong. "We really make these calls a priority and we depend on people to tell us if they are seeing suspicious activity."
Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public to report all suspicious activity and obtain license plates on suspicious vehicles if possible without endangering themselves. Anything actively occurring should be reported to our communications center at 887-2008 or 911.
