Reno Orthopedic Clinic celebrates opening of new Carson City facility

Reno Orthopedic Clinic (ROC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating its newest facility at 1365 Medical Parkway in Carson City Thursday evening.
Members of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell as well as ROC staff and guests from the community attended the event christening the 13,000 square-foot comprehensive orthopedic center.
Clinic Director Renny Uppal, MD, said a Carson City orthopedic center just made sense to the organization, which provides services to Northern Nevadans from all over the region.
"We've already been taking care of patients Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, Dayton, Fallon, Hawthorne and the surrounding areas," Dr. Uppal said. "We felt that this was the next best place to expand our clinic and grow."
Dr. Uppal said the new facility is like a one-stop orthopedic shop, featuring comprehensive services such as the ROC Express Walk-In Clinic, x-ray and MRI services, casting, physical therapy and physician offices.
"Everything except surgery," Dr. Uppal said.
But the center's close proximity to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center makes the absence of on-site surgery a moot point.
"We are privileged or on faculty at Carson Tahoe Medical Center, Dr. Uppal said, meaning the ROC surgeons are able to perform in or outpatient surgery in Carson City instead of Reno. "The plan is to perform surgery down here."
Dr. Uppal said ROC will complement the Carson City medical community, because they share the same values.
"We feel we have a really good orthopedic model in the way we deliver the care and quality of care we give," he said.
Care specialties at the new ROC clinic include foot and ankle, hand and upper extremities, joint replacement, sports medicine, and fracture and trauma.
Physical therapy and sports medicine will focus on both rehabilitation and performance to help patients achieve their functional goals.
ROC Express Walk-In is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and can be reached by telephone at 775-348-3048.
Physical therapy and the main clinic are open Monday through Thursday. General clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Physical therapy hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
