DUI patrol around Carson City ramped up now into early February
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office along with other law enforcement agencies throughout the state will be participating in Joining Forces through the month of January and into the first part of February 2016. The focus will be on Impaired drivers.
Increasing law enforcement presence during these weeks supports the overall state goal of reaching Zero Fatalities. Carson City residents can help us reach that goal by following these safety guidelines:
— Designate a sober driver before drinking;
— Use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation;
— Take advantage of local sober ride programs;
— Call 911 if a drunk driver is spotted on the road;
— Take the keys or assist in making other arrangements for someone who is about to drive or ride while impaired
Grant funding for this event is provided by the Nevada Department of Public Safety-Office of Traffic Safety. These monies are used to pay for additional deputies who will be out looking for impaired drivers.
Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program that promotes statewide enforcement in the areas of DUI, distracted driving, seat belt use, speeding and pedestrian safety. The goal of these enforcement campaigns is to save lives by increasing public awareness about the dangers of making poor choices while driving.
