Carson City Sheriff: One dead following shooting in Northridge area

UPDATE 641AM: The investigation into the early Monday morning shooting that left one person dead during an apparent drug transaction continues with detectives working all angles in the investigation, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. He reports the following details:
At 12:39 a.m. the Carson City Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple shots fired in the area of Windridge Drive and Spooner Drive in North Carson City. As units arrived in the area, authorities at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Emergency Room reported an adult male had arrived at their center with a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was in critical condition and taken to Renown Medical Center by Care Flight. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after 2 a.m.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses at this time, as well as the adult male who transported the victim to the hospital. The victim’s name is being held, pending notification to next of kin.

UPDATE: Carson City sheriff’s detectives are investigating a homicide that happened early Monday morning in the Northridge area of Carson City. The adult male victim was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno with a gunshot wound and died at the hospital, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
The victim was taken by a driver to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center following the shooting, where he was flown out by Care Flight, said Furlong. The vehicle, a yellow 4-door Mitsubishi sedan, appears to have been struck with a bullet in the front end area. Deputies are looking for the suspects involved.
Detectives were conducting interviews at hospitals in Carson City and Reno, and the crime scene area located across from Blackwell's Pond Park near Havenwood Court and Peakwood Court. Three shell casings and a knife have been recovered. Detectives were also looking in the area near Woodridge and Spooner drives. Detectives are investigating the homicide as possibly being related to a drug deal that went bad, said Furlong.
