UPDATE: Here's the latest update from Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: At approximately 5:15 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Butti Way and Airport Road on a report of an adult male in the area bleeding heavily.

The man was reported to have entered the Carson City Corporate Yard complex.  Prior to officers arriving at the scene, they were informed that the man had fled the area, jumping a fence into the back yards of houses located on Desatoya Road.  As officers arrived on Desatoya, they reported multiple shots being fired.  The officers were informed that a man had been shot at by a homeowner, but he fled back to area where he was originally reported.

Sheriff’s deputies located a man behind the residences at the 3100 block of Desatoya with a gunshot wound to the leg.  Paramedics treated the man, who was later Care Flighted to Renown Medical Center.  Both the husband and wife of the residence were treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.  Neither was transported.

Detectives have been able to learn that the man who was shot had been involved in an altercation several blocks away. It is being investigated that the man was injured in the altercation and while attempting to elude, he ran into the residence through a back door.

Five arrests have been made that are not related to the shooting at the home of the original altercation but for other crimes, said Furlong.

Officers remain on scene investigating the incident.

Update: A man is being transported via Careflight to Renown Medical Center in Reno for a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong, the man was seen running though the city's corporate yard area on Butti Way. He then ran into the backyard of home in the 3100 block Desatoya. The resident of that home reportedly fired several shots at the alleged intruder, striking him in the leg.

Furlong said they think this man was the only suspect involved. The man was said to be bloodied at the time he entered the backyard. Detectives were called to second home where the altercation may have started, said Furlong. According to deputies on the scene, several subjects are in custody at that second home.

Prior to being shot the man was seen shirtless and running through the city's corporate yard. A Public Works employee said he saw the man run through the city property, jump a fence into a back yard and then heard several shots fired.
